Green tactile indicators carry the meaning of safety and of a permitted direction. In the international colour code green says that this is a route you may take, which makes it the logical choice for marking an escape route, a safe pedestrian lane, or the way to an assembly point. Red and yellow warn, green guides — one does not substitute for the other.

The indicator comes in two forms. The bar forms a continuous guide: along a corridor, from a stair landing to an exit, across a site to the assembly point. The stud highlights where direction changes or a decision is made — a turn, the approach to a door, the head of a staircase. The diamond relief is felt underfoot and through a cane tip and works against slipping on a wet floor.

The green version is chosen for educational institutions, hospitals and rehabilitation centres, office buildings, museums and libraries, and production facilities — especially where the evacuation plan is backed by a tactile guidance strip.
