Description

Price per pack: 4 strips OR 36 studs. Strips and studs are sold as separate packs.

Stainless steel tactile indicators differ from the colour versions in that the choice here is made by material rather than colour. A steel element lasts several times longer than plastic: it does not fade under ultraviolet light, does not become brittle in frost, tolerates de-icing chemicals and salt water, and keeps its relief under heavy loads and constant mechanical abrasion.

The indicator comes in two forms — a long bar and a stud. The natural silvery metal surface separates well from dark granite and concrete and adds a highlight under light. It also has a limitation: in luminance contrast against the floor a metal surface often falls short of the colour versions, so in areas where residual sight matters it is sensibly planned together with a contrasting colour. The relief pattern on the surface is distinctly felt underfoot and through a cane tip.

  • Bar element — long service life in high-load areas
  • Stud element — at stairs, ramps and platform edges
  • Textured anti-slip surface — resistant to de-icing chemicals and frost
  • Mechanical fixing, suitable indoors and outdoors

The steel version is chosen for metro and railway platforms, airport terminals, the entrances of large shopping centres, administrative buildings, street crossings and multi-storey car parks — places where footfall is very dense and replacement is expensive. The initial cost is higher than plastic, but measured over the service life it often works out cheaper. Solutions are selected taking accessibility norm requirements into account.
